The Philosphy
The Philosphy
Women have been hiding out for a long time, even dressing to hide as if to say, don't notice me, let me blend. We have developed the ability of blending into our surroundings and being unnoticed. This was a powerful gift at the time. This ability has allowed us to observe and gain the ability to know what would happen next. It has also allowed us to feel safe. Blending has taught us the art of oneness. Women understand camouflage.
But new times require new strategies. It is time to drop our camouflage and take on our power as women. Anais Nin said, “There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom”.
When you wear a hat it is like medicine for the soul. The hat is the expression of who we are as women in every moment! The hat is your dreams of who you can be. It facilitates the different parts of who you are. With the wave a the hat, viola, you are mysterious, no you are sexy, now proper and now playful.
You cannot hide in a hat. You will be noticed-especially by men. To men you become a lady when you don a hat. One which they rush to open doors for. To women you become an inspiration, reminding them that they have a closet full of hats that they have not had the courage to wear.
When you wear a hat you now become the dream that started when the hat was conceived. The original energy that was put into the hat does not die, it only changes forms and owners. The dream doesn't die, it is passed on, sometimes from generation to generation. And when you see a woman in a hat in the next car on the freeway the dream grows and we as woman acknowledge each others growth. It is the symbol of the feminine which is so needed for us to share such a vision. For I tell you, thus is how you will “GO AHEAD AND BLOOM”. Leko

Where Good Ideas Come From, By Steven Johnson
This video by Steven Johnson, explains how inspiration is combined with other ideas out in our environments to eventually become our own. When you "Mash Up" your ideas, for instance with a historical hat idea and then combine it with colors that come from the military it becomes yours.
This is the ability that gives us the competitive edge! We can make mash ups more often and faster and compete with a large corporation, who more often then not, is lifting 'as is' ideas from you. By the time they have them made overseas you have created a new line and marketed it. Also Shoot then Aim. Get your idea out there. If it doesn't work try something different, but if it does then is the time to aim and do it bigger.
One of the biggest sources of growth in the economy is the emergence of the under 35 age group. The new younger generation is very savvy. They EXPECT to take the basic jeans and t-shirt look and make it their own. They expect to be involved in EVERY part of the design, thus making it personal. They are very connected and take mash ups for granted as just how it is. They may all have I Phones but they personalize when they add their own apps, games etc. They also expect to pre-shop on line after there friends have 'Shared' with them.
I who have thousands of hats bought one the other day on line at a discount site. I went on line to view more for http://www.hatsupply.com/ from the parent company. The company blocked me from seeing their designs on their website. The only way to see their hats was to go to a Wholesale Show. They had no contact info besides listing retail stores who sold their products most of which had no online presence. They were not open to the new conversation. They lost my business and are losing business for their retailers. I like that their intent was to protect their customers but instead they could have helped their retail customers by advertising for them. A more open approach and one that works to support their retail presence.
I can create a mash up from my new hat that I love and combine it with my own ideas and others out there and new materials which I have 18,000 square foot of at my Hats By Leko warehouse! It won't look anything like the original which is a mash up in and of itself. That's what I love about it. It took a Russian hat feel and combined it with a 40's look and a ski cap. Who would have thought? And the materials were unexpected. You too can make many materials available to customers. We ship FAST because we have in stock products so that you can Fullfill their Wishes easily. Choice is good and essential. With choice our fans can make it their own.
Remember the under 35 age group are buying. The question is will they by from you.
So what are the lessons? OPEN UP to let your customers in and involve them. Play mash up with them. Become more available on line. Spend more time exposing yourself to new ideas (follow our blog) even in different areas than your own. And if you want more people to notice you "Hat Up" like never before in more ways than ever and the whole world will Hat Up with you.

HOW DOES THIS IMPACT YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS?
SO WHY THE DIFFERENT LOOKS?
I have been creating magical moments to stack. " Hallelujah Energy". I have also been embracing different parts of myself, ex. Silver hair embraces the fun wise woman becoming more prominent.
HOW DOES THIS IMPACT YOU
and YOUR BUSINESS?
Doing business in the OLD WAY is not effective. Many who stick to old methods join chat rooms to find kindred people who complain about their state of affairs (negative). They get to be RIGHT, but this does not help them be fulfilled nor does it help them generate Repeat RAVING FAN CUSTOMERS.
In the NEW WAY of doing business, you embrace all the parts of yourself, you use everything as energy to spur you on (positive). You share the VALUE that you are already getting from your life and product.
You can no longer just show up at a craft fair and sell your old designs. Hats are so hot now that every clothes vendor is also selling hats as part of the outfit in one stop shopping!
WHAT CAN YOU OFFER THAT THEY CAN NOT?
They are stuck buying the same old designs from importers.
You the designer, can sell NEW designs! What does the Fun Wise Woman in you LONG to wear? What does the flapper in you LONG to wear? What does your customer in front of you want to wear? Ask them and give them what they want and what they dared not want. Fulfill the unfulfilled part of them.
If you are personally creating magical moments in your own life you can help your customer have magical moments when donning your design. You are not in the business of selling just hats, your are in the business of selling magical moments. You are in the business of Granting Happiness. Your customers are overwhelmed in a world of too much information AND doomsday economic predictions. Give them an experience of VALUING THEMSELVES.
HOW MUCH IS THAT WORTH? EVERYTHING. Who among you has put on a hat a felt uplifted. Pass it forward. The world is craving what you have to offer. But remember, if you are craving it...give it to yourself first.
